Have Food? We’ll Travel

The last few months in our world have been like no other.

Work is at an all-time-busy, we’re making some big life decisions and we’ve strung together a sequence of “best of” travel experiences that we’ve coined our Ultimate Honeymoon (in honor of finally having a legal marriage that is expected to stick). Read more »

The Herbfarm – Kitchen Hustle

Grazing at The Herbfarm

When the chef said that the evening’s 9-course, 6-wine menu had three desserts, I almost had an excitement seizure. Read more »

A Perfect (Food!) Day in Portland

It’s time for us to give Seattle a little air and, instead, do some rambling on-and-on about our second favorite city. Portland, Oregon.

We used to live there, so this bit of Portland love is long overdue. Read more »

If You Love Chipotle, Get to ShopHouse

When we’re on the road, we’re big fans of the food over at Chipotle Mexican Grill. It’s fast without compromising flavor, and it’s reasonably healthy. We both love the vegetarian burritos (in case you ever want to take us out for a cheap date).

When we heard that the masterminds behind Chipotle were experimenting with a new concept in Washington D.C., we couldn’t wait to try it out during our visit. Read more »

Gelato - Fassi Rome

Italian Gelato Off

Ahhh, gelato. We’ve had quite a lot of it over the years (although never in Italy), and we thought we had a pretty good handle on what it is.  Being big fans of a good dessert, we always “got” the fascination with gelato, but we were pretty much “good ice cream…  good gelato… whatever… no big difference” sort of guys.

Now that we’ve been to Italy – and had us a lot of gelato in the country – we really get the obsession that gelato devotees have with the stuff. Read more »

Lasagna

A Gastronomic Coup

If we got into every great food moment we had in Bologna, we’d bore you to tears. They were all remarkable, so it’s tough to resist the urge to give you blow-by-blow accounts of every bite.

You know, from our time in London (and our outlook on travel), that we need to be incredible deal finders when were on the road. That’s why we gravitate away from expensive parts of the world.

(Um, so what in the hell are we doing in Europe?) Read more »

A Meal Deal in London

London is in the rear view mirror, and we’ll be heading to Rome in a few days. Right now, we’re in the middle of a little travel experiment. We basically picked our current destination by blindly pointing at a map.

We’ll be writing about this adventure soon, but first we have to share a London food find. Read more »

When We Fall, We Fall Hard

We’ve been down in California, enjoying the Coachella Valley and catching some rays before it’s time to bust out the skis back in the Pacific Northwest.

We’ve also been bad.

Calm down. I don’t mean bad bad. We didn’t rob a bank or anything like that. Read more »

Travelogue – (feeding our guilt in) Boston

Well folks, our mileage run is over. Boston was the last stop on our journey, and an eye-opening one at that. Coming off a fun visit to Provincetown, we were excited to attack our last city with gusto. The only problem was…. history got in the way. Read more »

Kauai Wrap Up

Yes, it’s true. We are entering the final leg of our time here on Kauai.

We wanted to take a moment to write about a few more of the most note-worthy experiences we’ve had as we prepare to jet back to our home-base, Seattle. Read more »

Kauai – Exploring the Island (Awesome Food Edition)

It’s the season for being thankful, and boy do we ever feel grateful. We continue to have an incredible time here on Kauai, and we don’t forget for a second how lucky we are to have a No Vacation Required Life. A life where we’re able to have longer term adventures like this prior to being older and less mobile.

Hawaii can be an expensive place, so we have to remain mindful of our budget. We’re able to prepare most of our meals right in our rental condo. Phew. Since we’re such foodies, though, we can’t pass up the opportunity to try different foods around the island. Read more »

Vegas – It’s A Wrap

Aria vs. Encore.

Our travel writing assignment in Vegas is over (at least the visiting Vegas part is). We’re back at our home-base, trying to get back to a normal schedule and trying – more than anything – to convince ourselves that we shouldn’t try to duplicate Society’s deep fried mac ‘n cheese at home.  That would not be a good thing.
