You wake up in Seattle. Looking out your hotel room’s window, you see a layer of light fog beginning to drift away. Somehow, contrary to what you conjured up before arriving, the dramatic clouds and light rain fit the setting. The smartest thing we did in Beijing was getting out of our posh hotel and moving into a traditional residential area. Sure, the fancy hotel had us about as close as we could be to the major tourist attractions, but it certainly didn’t give us an accurate feel for how the city pulses and moves. Read more
Last year when we were here in Glacier Natioinal Park, a hiker just in front of us on the Grinnell Glacier trail fell to his death due to hazardous conditions. Stunned and in shock, we turned back. Read more
On the way to Glacier National Park, Montana for our last outdoor adventure of the summer, we got ourselves pumped up by listening to Wild. It’s the Cheryl Strayed’s book about her 1100 mile hike on the pacific Crest Trail (and all the self discovery that accompanied her throughout the journey).

Last year, we decided to – from time to time – highlight some of our most spectacular past journeys under an “Awesome Adventures” heading. To qualify, the journey has to be the best of the best. There aren’t many.
