Our Best of Italy

Close your eyes and picture Italy’s countryside. Got it in your mind? Okay, good.

Well, that’s not what it’s like here in Tuscany today (it’s blustery), making it a great time for an update. Read more

How to Stop Thinking Small

“You guys have got to weigh in on this debate,” said our friend’s e-mail.

I figured I’d check it out. Awake and chugging coffee early in the morning, I had nothing better to do in my jet lag induced haze here in Italy.  Read more »

Have Food? We’ll Travel

The last few months in our world have been like no other.

Work is at an all-time-busy, we’re making some big life decisions and we’ve strung together a sequence of “best of” travel experiences that we’ve coined our Ultimate Honeymoon (in honor of finally having a legal marriage that is expected to stick). Read more »

A lot has been going on. Time to get you all caught up. We’re married (in a way that will stick this time). We’ve started our Ultimate Honeymoon (why not celebrate with a sequence of “best of” travel experiences?). Read more

Finding the Chill in Hawaii and Costa Rica

None of our adventures beat those in which we find ourselves in a chill, restorative environment. It seems we’re half crazy half the time (especially lately), so we love – more than anything – accommodations that dilute the crazy quotient. Read more »

On Camping, Vegas and Potato Chips

We should not be left alone with all of the Kettle Chips we have in the house.

We have been obsessively making our way through several flavors as we get all caught up on stuff and finalize our camping adventure before taking off (next week!). Our desks are, uncharacteristically, bursting with papers, books and files – many carry the telltale sign of having eaten potato chips. Colorful salty fingerprints. Read more »

Live now.

The Last Month

“It’s about this big,” the doctor said, holding two clenched fists end-to-end in front of his chest.

“Wait a minute, Didn’t you say it’s the size of an orange?”

“That’s the other one,” he said, holding a single fist in front of his throat.

I plopped down in the closest waiting room chair, and – in an attempt to zone out for a moment – let my mind drift to how we got here in the first place. Read more »

What’s Up in 2011

Last week, we got a little deeper into the purpose of this blog/website. Bottom line: We want to have a place to chronicle what we do in an attempt to have a No Vacation Required (NVR) life – a life where every day is pretty much a dream day. We also want to inspire you to do the same.

If you’re nuts about travel / working virtually / giving back, all the better. We already have a lot in common! Read more »

Passports with Purpose – Build a Village (and Enjoy Paradise)

A few days ago, we introduced you to Passports with Purpose (PwP). It’s a giving back initiative that’s guided by the belief that travel can change the world. Pretty cool.

Today, we have more exciting news to share. Read more »

Passports with Purpose – Build a Village (and Eat Pastries)

When our neighborhood travel pals Beth, Pam and Meg gave us the 411 on their altruistic passion, Passports with Purpose (PwP), we couldn’t wait to learn more. These three – along with the other two founders – started PwP back in 2008 guided by the belief that travel has the power to change the world. Pretty cool, right?!

Giving back and travel are both big parts of what our No Vacation Required (NVR) lifestyle is all about. So, when we got the full scoop from these amazing women, we couldn’t wait to join in. Read more »

Details, Details – Writing About Travel

We just got back from Las Vegas and the final report card is in. The trip was attached to our official travel writing gig.

We try to live deliberately; for us, a big part of what that means is seeing as much of the world as we can while we can. Needless to say, this writing gig fit us like a hand in a glove. Plus, as part of our rejiggered life, we make a living – virtually – by doing a lot of writing. Double score, right? Read more »

Vegas – It’s A Wrap

Aria vs. Encore.

Our travel writing assignment in Vegas is over (at least the visiting Vegas part is). We’re back at our home-base, trying to get back to a normal schedule and trying – more than anything – to convince ourselves that we shouldn’t try to duplicate Society’s deep fried mac ‘n cheese at home.  That would not be a good thing. Las Vegas – Here We Come

Tomorrow, we take off for our first (paid) travel blogging gig. We’ll be talking about our experience in Vegas (and hoping it’s not skewed by the mega-heat happening there right now).

Keep an eye here for details as things unfold.
