Courage is tough. We touched on it in a post explaining how we confronted a trouble maker on the bus.
This week, we had to exhibit another kind of courage. We had to tell a friend something that he's needed to hear for a long time. Something no one else would tell him. I can't even count the times that we've decided to do it and then changed our minds. Not doing it was easier. No risk.
Circumstances finally led us to just go for it.
As you might expect, he had no clue regarding the message and had not heard a peep on the topic from anyone else.
You may not expect just how appreciative he was. He knew it was coming from a place of love and concern so did not (at all) question our motives.
Is there something tough you need to get off your chest? Struggling to decide whether or not to go for it?
First, consider your intention. If it's self-serving or coming from a place of anger, you may want to reconsider or at least hold off. If it's coming from a place of love, do it. The recipient of the news will feel your intention.
Be the kind of friend you want to have.
