Why is it easier to dole out advice than it is to make up our own minds about something.
We're currently making big decisions for the rest of 2014 and into 2015 and have lubricated our decision making process by employing a favorite tactic of ours.
When faced with a decision / dilemma / choice... whatever, we'll often ask ourselves what advice we would give a friend in the same situation.
We know so much about our own intricate situations that it can be difficult to take our over self-analysis out of the equation. Depersonalize the situation – by pretending that a friend is facing the same situation – and oftentimes the "right" answer flows much more fluidly.
Give it a try.
