We recently cancelled a huge adventure in the interest of enjoying Seattle and the Pacific Northwest, taking care of house projects, hanging out with visitors, etc.
I guess this shot / explanation from Instagram explains it all:
We were supposed to leave on a big adventure in a couple weeks. We cancelled it. We’ve enjoyed having this recent period of time to catch up on work, chip away at long-neglected house projects, and to enjoy our home base. Here, we’re hanging out in a #Seattle park just prior to a big #LGBT community event. We’re eating huckleberry taffy from #Montana and talking about our dreams and plans for the remainder of 2014 and 2015. In order to expand effectively, one also has to contract, to slow down, to breathe. It feels great, and we need it for what’s ahead.
As interesting as it may sound – and as much as we love our home city – we have to challenge ourselves to expand and diversify our appreciation of Seattle. (Yea... we're the guys who finally made it to the Space Needle just two years ago.)
We have a big list of things we've wanted to do but are never in town for. On the evening this picture was taken, we were pooped from house projects so weren't really in the mood to go out. In the name of experiencing a community event that only happens once a year (and knowing we won't be here next year), we went.
And loved it.
And thoroughly relaxed on the grass at the event.
Get out and try something new. –Dylan Lewis
