Today we picked our "long" run out of the exercise bag.
Sometimes – depending on what's going on in the day ahead – we're better prepared for it than others. At 12 miles, this particular run takes a significant chunk of time out of the day.
Sometimes we want a redraw.
Today was one of those days.
We also know that delaying the monster run is a slippery slope. I mean, is there ever a great day to knock out a 12-mile run? No, not really.
Today, we had to wrap our minds around busting out a long run and getting everything else done. We knew that putting it off would make it easy to put it off again.
We did it. We survived. The day went on (just a little differently than we might have liked).
Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal. –Henry Ford
