Yesterday was all about an experiment in pushing.
Today is about an experiment in not pushing.
After a few days full of work projects, we had earmarked the day as one for relaxation. Complete relaxation.
As our travel is about to rev up again, we're trying to be aware of the need to up the amount of resting going on in our world. But we're also aware that we want to put a ribbon on some of the house projects we're tackling.
It got to be 3:00 p.m., and we realized we hadn't sat down. We were going to push though with a trip to Home Depot to get "one more thing" done. One of us said no.
Normally, that could have been the start of a stupid, small argument. This time, with one look at each other, we knew it was the right answer. We rapidly jumped on the couch to continue our West Wing marathon.
Yes, yet another thing we're catching up on. Fifteen years later.
Rest until you feel like playing, then play until you feel like resting, period. Never do anything else. –Martha Beck
