The American Express Platinum card comes with a hefty annual fee – $450. Despite Am/Ex messing with lounge access over the last several months (meaning, scaling back), we still think that the card holds incredible value. With the $200 airline fee credit and the Priority Plus Select airport club access alone, we get our money's worth.
Recently, while on the road, we decided we wanted to splurge on a special meal with a top client (and now friend). It was last minute, so we couldn't secure a reservation. So, we gave the American Express Platinum Card Concierge a call to see what would happen.
We had never used this service before so were particularly curious.
Well, while the service wasn't able to secure a reservation either, we were blown away by the customer service they provided. The representative did some research and provided us with a list of similarly "hot" restaurants that did have availability. Impressive.
We've rarely felt so good about being let down.
American Express, in general, provides killer customer service. On the road so much, we see things go sideways with some frequency. American Express has consistently been a top resource to help us out of those pinches.
