Recently, we had to take a somewhat unexpected trip to meet with a client.
We pretty much shut down social media while we were away. In our effort to be a bit more balanced, we decided we didn't need to add the "travel" side of us to a work trip.
We let the journey be about work.
It was great.
It's so refreshing to not feel the need to talk about everything that's going on. Especially when what's going on is kind of significant.
As travel writers, we're typically in social-media-frenzy mode when we're on the road. It's fun to share pictures, we're often gathering content for a story, etc.
Occasionally shutting down / slowing down social media serves as a reminder to us that our priority is living life, not talking about living life. Because if we're not primarily focused on living our most awesome life, what we're being social about becomes meaningless. And boring.
