With summer starting to wind down, people are beginning to plan their winter-weather travel. Friends have been regularly asking us where to go to get away from it all. They want "easy" but a bit "off the beaten path."
We've been urging people to give Molokai a shot. Recently there on a trip hosted by the Maui County Visitors Bureau, we think it fits the bill perfectly for travelers who want lots of time to chill, a sense of going to a lightly visited destination, and an easy path.
We left from Seattle in the morning and were in our rental car on Molokai by mid afternoon. On the way there, we connected via Maui. On the way back, we had a quick stop on Oahu. Easy.
Have a look at Molokai. If you love gorgeous settings and can live without upscale resorts and fine dining, it just might be your ideal retreat when the weather worsens.
