We recently wrote about how pleased we are with Seattle's decision to implement a plan that gruffly increases the city's minimum wage to $15.
For us, it's all about bulking up the middle class before it disappears completely.
A college education – almost prohibitively expensive for those who need it most – is probably the best path to a better life. College graduates can pretty much expect to have double the lifetime earnings of those with only a high school education. Plus, kids of college educated parents are more tun twice as likely to attend college themselves.
Those are great statistics.
Starbucks has a reputation among those in our field as being a solidly employee-friendly place to work. This decision bumps them up to an entirely new level.
With that, we're gonna walk down to our local Starbucks and feel pretty good about forking over nearly five bucks for an Oprah Chai.
