The other day, while talking to some police officers hanging out at an ATM machine in NYC, we learned about something we had no idea we needed to be aware of.
So, by now, we all know that it's a good idea to cover your hand while punching in your ATM code. Well, did you know that criminals are now placing phony card reading devices over the legit card reading devices attached to ATM machines. Yep, that's the latest thing.
The police officers were urging ATM users to always tug at the card reader to ensure that there is not a fake reader attached. They also told us to do the same with card readers that are oftentimes on the doors leading to indoor ATM machines.
