Good thing we got all rested up and contemplative on our crawl through the Mediterranean and across the Atlantic. Turns out we needed that huge reserve of physical and mental energy for what was to come next. After disembarking in Fort Lauderdale and enjoying lunch and a tour with friends we met in Alaska, we hit the South Beach area of Miami for a few days.
It hit us like a ton of bricks. It's a vibrant, part dirty, part polished, people watching, sun worshiping mecca.
Our days there were all about good food (Cuban!), beach time, people watching and Art Deco peeping. We made a point of walking and running a lot in order to begin to offset the damage done by vulgar amounts of pasta and gelato in Italy.
Our favorite activity – by a long shot – was roaming around to check out the incredible architecture. Apparently, most of it is based on Streamline Moderne design, which is a late stage off-shoot of Art Deco. With that too brief description, we'll leave you with a few of our favorite shots
