It's time for a little update on what we've got on the books for the months ahead as we aim to keep leading this No Vacation Required life – a life where every day is pretty awesome and where we don't need a vacation. Here's what's up...
The first half of 2011 has been big. We certainly lived up to the "travel deliriously" end of the equation (just ask the airlines). So, back in Seattle, we're in regroup mode – plotting out what the rest of the year will look like as we make tracks, make a living and try to make a difference along the way.
One thing is for sure. Things look much different than expected. After an awesome string of experiences during the first few months of the year, we were thrown a curve ball that's required us to modify our plans. We love that our life affords us lots of flexibility.
First, we were set to embark on a road trip (today!) – one of our favorite adventures a couple of years ago – but that's off the books, as is our highly anticipated visit to Vancouver for TBEX. Our return to South America, all set up for August, is also not likely to happen.
No sketchy motels and road food. No bonding with other travel fanatics in about the coolest city on earth. No 3000 calorie meals and cheap wine in Argentina. We're not thrilled, but you do what you have to do.
Here's what is probably happening:
- Shortly, we're heading down to Southern California for some work and a couple other obligations. We're happy to say that we've also carved out some time to chill out and explore while we're in that part of the country. Ahhh, pool/sun time is much needed because we are white white in Seattle this year.
- Our yearly camping adventure is still on for July. We're pumped to be going back to Glacier National Park – one of our favorite places in the world. This time we're heading deep into the backcountry to camp, and we're bringing bear spray. We're not messin' around.
- While we're likely not able to enjoy South America long-term this summer/fall, we're thinking that we might make a shorter visit to Mexico for some exploring, great food and giving back. Fingers crossed for no getting sick this time.
Speaking of giving back, what we're really focusing on right now is kicking it up a notch. If you've clicked around here, you know that we're passionate about the fight to eradicate poverty. Ever since learning that about a billion people in the world, 1 in 6, are chronically hungry, we've been especially determined to do more because that's just not right. Stay tuned as we iron out plans.
I think that's it for now.
No matter how things unfold, we'll try to stay focused on appreciating every moment (and having an Internet connection so that we can work virtually and stay connected!).
What do you have cookin' for the rest of 2011?
