We're on a mission to see the Northern Lights at some point. It's definitely high on "the list" of life to-dos. A few years ago, we were up in Iceland and hoped to see the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) while we were there. We visited for a few nights - with only a few hours of sun a day - and had no luck seeing the Aurora. Thankfully, Iceland is awesome, so we had plenty of other stuff to do. We had to be careful, though, because of the sky high prices at the time (before the market nose dive).
We're giving the Aurora another shot up in Alaska over the next few days. The experts say that we're within a great pocket of days to see the lights. Plus, March is historically a great month for Aurora viewing and the sky is expected to be clear. A perfect combination.
We're prepared for the wintery weather, but to go from ideal conditions in Hawaii to brutal Alaska will be a shock. Seeing the lights will make it all worth it.
