I remember a comic from ages ago like that. One guy gives a berry to the next saying “here try this”. The second asks the first “sure, why?” and the first answers”I want to see if it is poisonous.”.

Nice pictures, but a shame you had to be sick to post them.

I am so ignorant about what is edible or poisonous (honestly cannot recognize poison ivy), so I never ever eat anything out in the wilderness.

I feel much better – but that was a rough couple of days. Lesson learned = don’t eat berries directly from the shrub/bush/tree. You never know what you might be getting yourself into Caanan

Sorry you got so sick, Caanan. I wouldn’t even know what a huckleberry (or for that matter, an elderberry) looked like so probably wouldn’t pick and eat one. We don’t get those in California.

So sorry to hear about the berry misfortune! I was just eating tons of wild berries on the trails/mountainside in Austria… thankfully my hiking companions know much more about safe wild stuff than I. We had mostly blueberries and blackberries. But I think I ate a few mysterious ones, too. (!) Don’t want to end up like Mr Into-Thin-Air!!
