Last Friday Night (Dubrovnik Edition)
Our love affair with Croatia continues. So much so that – as was the case in Spain – we uncharacteristically became beach/water guys. I guess it’s that we wanted to experience everything. And when, last Friday, that included the opportunity to have our own private swimming/sunning spot for the day, we couldn’t pass it by.
What in the hell is happening to us?
After getting wiped out by a day full of activity, we wanted to get to an edge of Dubrovnik to enjoy what we suspected would be a fantastic sunset.
Seriously, could this corner of the world get any more beautiful than we already thought it was? We decided that Croatia deserves a lot more time than this run of travel allows for.
Rather than moving along, we planted ourselves in Dubrovnik and resolved to visit the rest of the country another time.

Wow, those sunset photos are gorgeous. Happy to hear you guys are having fun!
Thanks, Roy. That sunset was pretty remarkable.
The connumdrums of travel in Croatia: So many stunning places, so little time.
~sigh~
That looks wonderful. I need one of those days.
Has your tan from Hawai’i even worn off yet?
Beautiful Beautiful captures! And who would not want to become a water philic after seeing such a place!!
Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend:)
Thanks, Arti – you too!
Moments like this make you realize that life is infact not that bad after all. Enjoy!
Word. We were stunned that we were the only people enjoying that swimming area.
Great pics guys!
Dubrovnik is such a beautiful city! Your sunset photos are gorgeous! I was hanging out with 2 travelers from Australia when I was there, and I remember buying picnic food and some drinks and sitting by the water watching the sunset and just talking all night. Glad you had a good time there!
That sounds like a pretty perfect evening!
Great photos, guys – glad you enjoyed your time in Croatia! I’ve only heard wonderful things about the place. If you visit the area again, maybe get to Slovenia and Montenegro – two other places in the area that I’ve only ever heard people rave about ^.^
We really wanted to get to Montenegro, but couldn’t bring ourselves to leave Dubrovnik. Next time for sure.
Did Canan jump in the water too? It’s not hard to turn into a beach rat… I have the same fever!
Good memory. Yes, I did. But feverishly dog paddling does not make for pretty pictures!
Now that looks like fun!
The last few shots are breathtaking. I am really intrigued by Croatia now.
Great sunset photos! I loved Dubrovnik. I was lucky enough to be filling in for Chris on the Carnival Magic, which did a one-day port there. The Old City is amazing, and we found this great little restaurant away from all the commercialness of the Old City – it was super reasonable.
Next time I go back, I want to see Plitvice Lakes National Park.
That’s on our list as well, Don!
Thanks to you and a few other blog posts of late, Croatia has made it onto my bucket list. And you’re swimming in May! Looks wonderful.
Yes… swimming in May in our own private spot. WHAT?
Dubrovnik is definitely beautiful, but so is the rest of the coast. Try to take some time and see some more of the great country.
We’re on it – already want to get back!
Great pics…but really, a cliff with a ladder like a pool? How awesome is that?
Gorgeous. The color of the water, the colors of the sunset. This makes me want to uncharacteristically take a beach vacation. Oy vey
I love how happy you guys look in these photos!!! Gorgeous sunset wowow.
dayum. that is gorgeous!!!
We also fell in love with Croatia as soon as we stepped off the plane in Zadar. The mountains, the islands, the old towns… something about it is just magical! We spent about a month in central Dalmatia and it wasn’t enough. We are definitely coming back! Thanks for posting your gorgeous pics of Dubrovnik!
