A Day in Marrakech in Photos
Nothing beats the kid-like anticipation of leaving our room each morning and returning each evening saturated with new experiences. It’s the joy of travel.

We use this time to wake up and prepare our senses, because we know we’ll have to endure a lot of these racing scooters…
…and, um, shall we say disorder…
…before we can get to the more picture-worthy stuff that Marrakech is known for.
Late in the day, wiped out (and with a bag full of those cookies) we wait to be let back in the riad…
…snap a couple of shots of our haven…
..and head to bed.

It looks like you two are having a blast! We love experiencing Marrakech through you. We’re toasting to you from our lovely coffee spot in the (surprisingly) warm and sunny Seattle. Miss you guys!
Thanks you two – we’ll catch up when we get back!
Oh, that chaos in Marrakech. I remember being so stressed to leave my riad and head into the medina. It was so overwhelming. Beautiful. But, the image of a motorbike running over my toes seemed very realistic!
We’ve been to some crazy places, and we were NOT prepared for the number of scooters zooming around. We only saw one accident.
Great shots! I think Marrakech is a photographer’s dream. Beautiful city.
Thanks, Adam. We got a lot of nice shots, but we also left the camera behind a lot.
Gorgeous. I MUST go there. That is all.
We must talk all things tagine created
Marrakech is pretty high on my list. Sometimes a little insanity in a city is great and all you can do is watch and enjoy it.
Very true! And in the case of Marrakech, you can guzzle mint tea and do it all with the ultimate sugar high
Morocco has been on my wish list for so long – especially Marrakech. Every colourful photo I see increases my desire – and then life gets in the way. Curious as to how you’re finding the temperatures. I figure there’s a narrow window of opportunity to go before it gets stinking hot but don’t know if I’m right about that.
The weather is ideal right now. Our riad owner closes down in July/August because of the heat. Outside of that, I’d say you’ll be OK.
Lovely photo essay, you captured well the genuine essence of the place.
The place you stayed looks gorgeous.
It was! There are so many riads that it’s mind numbing to make a decision.
We’ll write about it down the road.
I love all the different contrasts in your day. I guess that’s what Marrakech is known for
gorgeous gorgeous! We’ve only been to Morocco briefly a few years ago but have been waiting to go back ever since. What a lovely city.
I love how you took missing China right now in stride and moved right into the next great idea. You guys are always inspiring!
Cheers,
Rhonda
Thanks, Rhonda. Yes, China can wait. This run of travel is incredible so far.
Oh wow… this brought back many memories from my time in Marrakech and well all of Morocco. Love all these photos… you captured the city right on. The hectic, the beautiful… the deliciousness.
Can’t wait to swap “best of” and “worst of” Morocco stories.
The colors and textures in this part of the world always amaze me. Love it!
Agree! Like no other place we’ve been.
Gorgeous, unique photos! I’ve never seen Marrakech like this! I’ve always wanted to go, ever since I wasn’t able to take a trip with some friends were traveling there from Granada, where I studied abroad in college. Someday!
Yes, someday… just be sure to talk to us first
Love how shots of small details really capture the feeling of the overall scene. It looks like a great day!
Yes, some of the most interesting (and long!) days in the history of our travels.
Looks so much like India! Colorful and disorderly but very likable!!!
Hope you guys are having a wonderful week:)
Many people consider it mini-India
Another wonderful experience. I am always excited to learn about your travels. Marrakech is a great destination to relax and just be fascinated. I love the photos, you really captured the place’s beauty.
Love the pictures……and I love bread!! For some reason they have us beat in the bread department…. well some countries. Can’t wait to check out Morocco!
We went over the top with bread consumption. But who can resist a baguette!
i can’t WAIT to get over there!!! it looks like such an awesome place to visit!

Morocco is so intensely photogenic. Well at least from all the bloggers that come back overflowing with interesting rich colored pictures like yours.
This looks like a great way to spend a day! Looks like an interesting place to explore.
Yes… it’s different than any other place we’ve been.
