From Glacier NP to Glacier Bay NP
We’re settled back in Seattle after our adventure in Glacier National Park.
The camping and hiking were incredible, but those elements weren’t the best part. Our time in the wilderness turned out to be an avalanche of inspiration and life lessons that allowed us to clear out the gunk in our heads and more easily lean into the power of intuition.
Here’s the deal…
There’s something about starting each day in a setting like this that recharged our outlook.
Witnessing the early morning moon fading away above the golden prairie and rugged mountains, our “problems” seemed to fade away.
At times, we didn’t think we could hike one more mile. So we’d catch our breath and snap a couple pictures.

Feeling like we had a glacial lake to ourselves…
Finding the perfect hike…
Witnessing the uncertainty of life…
These things reset how we look at the world and what’s important.
Here’s the deal… This won’t always be a practical place to sleep for several nights.
And we won’t always be able to make it way up to places like this.

We have our health, our minds and our vigor. It won’t always be that way.
So, in honor of that, we’re jumping on the chance to have another nature-centric adventure.
We’re packing up the virtual office and heading to Alaska in just a couple of weeks. Details will follow… once we have everything ironed out.

Yowzers. This place looks like magic. I think it’s time I wander… gaaaaah you lads make me terribly envious. Enough already!
It IS magic – and only a day’s drive away from our home base in Seattle.
Sounds exciting – and looks like a fantabulous hiking/camping adventure! Gotta love life on the west coast!
Beautiful scenery from the top of the world!
Such spectacular scenery. You guys are lucky to have seen it first-hand. Was the water cold?
Michael, you have found us out. That water was SO cold – you can’t even imagine.
MTE (Major Travel Envy). What a beautiful spot to go camping…and, of course, drink whiskey around the campfire! Apropos to nothing in this post, but I just had Jack Daniels honey liquor this weekend in my coffee, and it was DELICIOUS.
Thanks, Kristin – But – to be honest – you should have said “drink whiskey around the campfire to combat fear.”
That honey liquor sounds like a must try. And in coffee? Well played.
That is the beauty of a walkabout – clearing your head, breathing deeply, appreciating beauty… It allows what really matters and what is true about who you are to rise to the surface and be realized.
The challenge is being able to do this right where we are when we can’t be in an incredible place like Glacier National Park!
Alaska…can’t wait to see the pics!
Exactly… it’s all within, isn’t it!
Wonderful photos, and I look forward to hearing about your Alaskan adventure.
Beautiful! i thought about you when i red the NYT travel sction Sunday on Glacier. We’re headed to the north if Vancouver island next week, then more of BC and Alberta. i am officially a West-Coast Wannabe!
Glad to hear it, Jules!
Lake water is rarely balmy!
Looks like home
Yay, Alaska! I can’t wait to see the photos!
We can’t wait to take them It’ll be the ultimate practice lab for us.
YAHOOOOOOOOO!!!! my head is spinning and i don’t know what to remark on first! ALASKA- holy cow, YES! these gorgeous photos- um, yeah, totally get that inspiration thing, how great you are at appreciating and paying attention to your inner compass, and wowza, do you both have to be so darn cute?? love it! so happy for you and can’t wait to read and hear all about it!
Thanks, Lorna. You are very good for a self esteem boost
I would definitely love to be hiking there right now! It looks gorgeous!
Wow, another Alaskan adventure? I always feel equally refreshed after some time in nature, even if it’s just a couple days at a nearby campground. It puts everything else in perspective.
What an absolutely stunning setting. I can see you are really enjoying that new camera too!
And, believe me, we try to channel your photography skills when we are taking pictures!
Dang you two and your National Park photos! However, I balance my jealousy with fear of bears!
Now you’ve inspired me to want a nature-centric adventure! Sounds like your time in Glacier was exactly the right way to spend some time & beautifully captured in your photos. Nice that you’re heading off to Alaska soon — a place I haven’t been yet, unfortunately.
Alaska is somewhere that fascinates me. So glad you’re managing to combine work and nature. Not common, I must say.
How long are you guys going to be in Alaska for? Everyone (srsly, EVERYONE) says it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world, but I’m still in the dark on that one. All I know is that polar bears are supposed to be way meaner than we think.
Can’t wait to see all your photos.
OMG! You guys will LOVE Alaska! I just finished my first trip up there and absolutely loved it – can’t wait to come back as soon as possible!
GORGEOUS!! hey was that water cold?? brr!!
