Passports with Purpose – Build a Village (and Enjoy Paradise)

by NVR Guys
Passport with Purpose

A few days ago, we introduced you to Passports with Purpose (PwP). It’s a giving back initiative that’s guided by the belief that travel can change the world. Pretty cool.

Today, we have more exciting news to share.

First, some backstory for those who missed it the first time around…

Back in 2008, the PwP crew raised about $7,500 for Heifer International. Last year, they blew past their goal and raised $30,000 to build a school in Cambodia. This year, the plan is to raise $50,000 in order to build a village (yep, a village) in rural India via a partnership with Friends of Lafti (LAFTI).

This is where we come in.

Giving back and travel are both big parts of what our No Vacation Required (NVR) lifestyle is all about. So, when we got the full scoop, we couldn’t wait to join PwP’s efforts.

Lending a hand is simple. We’re joining over 100 other bloggers who have all secured fantastic prizes. Blog readers (that’s you) have the opportunity to check out the assortment of prizes. Then, for each $10 donation to LAFTI, you get entered into a drawing for the prize(s) of your choice.  It’s simple. More on that below.

This is where our prize sponsor comes in.

Full disclosure. We don’t talk about work much, but we were at a little business meeting here on Kauai and fell in love. Fell in love with the Grand Hyatt Kauai, that is.

The minute we arrived at the resort we knew it was special. Wait a minute. Not merely special – extraordinary. For starters, it really is picture perfect. Immediately upon entering the beachfront paradise, you feel as though you have stepped into a postcard. Never mind the fact that the setting you’ll see (as you gaze out to the ocean from the lobby) is framed just like a postcard.

The elegant – yet comfortable – decor and warm wood accents immediately transport you to a place of peace and relaxation. Add to that: top notch rooms, endless amenities, a water wonderland and a bliss-inducing space and you’ve got one incredible place.

In support of PwP, the Grand Hyatt Kauai is offering a certificate good for a three night stay (valued at around $1,500). There are some blackout periods, but the certificate can be used through 11/30/2011.

Even though we are currently on Kauai. We are already very jealous of whoever wins this incredible prize. Who wouldn’t be.

This is where you come in.

Do you have $10 to spare?  Want the warm feeling that comes with giving back? Follow these steps:

  1. Head on over to the prize catalog / donation page.
  2. Select the prize from the Grand Hyatt Kauai  (and/or whichever strikes your fancy) and make your tax deductible donation via PayPal for a chance to win.
  3. Hold tight. Prize winners will be announced on December 17th.

Check out the PwP website for full details and shoot us an e-mail if you have questions or want our recommendations for how to make the most of your stay on Kauai or at the Grand Hyatt.

Aloha!

Excellent. Glamour grannies do have a $ or two to spare, so I’d really like to join this initiative and become active too. Great cause.

Thanks everyone. The Hyatt Kauai really is a jaw-dropping sort of place with everything you could possibly want in order to chill out. Plus, they have a huge heart and didn’t hesitate at all when asked to get involved with PwP.

    Bid on it!

I just offered PWP to donate 1 pair of custom made to standard size safari boots. I kind of like the purpose of the campaign as I’m a blessed son of Dalits who are the lowest class in India, often skinners and tanners and shoemakers. We shoemakers have got to stand together!
And 1 of them blessed me here-
